“Smart or dumb” I take a bit of issue with. Everyone is ‘dumb’ in some aspects, and some people’s minds work faster than others. If someone is slow, but they try hard, that’s one thing. I think no less of them for it.

But I refuse to accept stupidity as a lifestyle choice. People who refuse to learn, or blithely dismiss reasoned arguments because such things do not agree with what they already believe. Those who believe that ignorance is some kind of inalienable right, rather than something to overcome. Who somehow think that the label of ‘dumb’ is a free pass not to try at all.

I refuse to accept anyone who makes a conscious choice not to better themselves. And if that makes me a bigot, then I’d rather be a bigot than apathetic.

I’d like to say, first off, that when Blossom Livestreamed this, they were all, “This hair is so terrible! I fail at hair! Oh noes!” …look at that hair. Look at it. Is that failhair? No. No it is most certainly NOT failhair.

The colors… ok, so I was listening to an episode of the Cutie Art Crusaders (a podcast about MLP fanart, TOTALLY worth a listen, even if you don’t draw yourself. Especially, imo, some of the early episodes about things like light and water and I’m getting off topic. Anyway, they were talking about complimentary colors, and when/how to use them. Basically, what I took from it was that they work well in small amounts, or as highlights. So, I decided to try it out on making my own pony (at the insistence of a couple of friends of mine). So I took my favorite color (orange), and its compliment (blue-green, or bottle green, in this case) and… well… I think it turned out very well! Kudos, Blossomforth!

If the planets align and I am in a position to pick this back up again, I would definitely like to. Until then, the blog is optimistically on hiatus, pessimistically closed forever.

For one, there is the raw time factor. Everybody, including many of the people who want to or already do run an ask blog under-estimate how much time goes into them. To make a stupid one panel comic where absolutely nothing interesting happens takes me about a half hour. Do anything with multiple panels or any sort of complexity or multiple characters and I’m looking at upwards of two to four hours, even more if it’s anything special.

I don’t have that kind of time anymore. To say that I have no free time is inaccurate. (Although it is true that I have less.) To be more precise, with the small amount of free time I have, I’d rather do something other than spend all of it working on a simple little comic that somebody will at best glance at for five seconds, chuckle, then click a little heart.

The second factor behind this is the motivation. I’m not going to go into specifics, but more than half the people and reasons for why I worked so hard on this are now gone. Again, that’s not to say I don’t like working on the blog and drawing/writing these characters, because I do. However, a lot of the outside driving factors and people are now gone.

On top of that, Tumblr is a rapid fire medium with the memory of a goldfish. I just can’t keep up with that like I used to. Unlike the heavy hitters, I have no built in audience who continues to care about the artist behind the blog once they stop working on it. I’m just not relevant anymore.

I want to thank everybody who stuck with the Flower Trio throughout all of this, and for those new followers you have my deepest apologies. Through the first half of the history of this blog I genuinely enjoyed the company and people who were associated with it. The streams were great and I loved to interact with readers. I met some great people because of this blog, but that’s an era long gone. I’ll cherish those memories forever, but it’s time to move on.

I’m one of the voice actresses for the aforementioned video. I’d been following Double Rainboom for a while, and when I heard that their original Twilight was unable to fulfill her role, I jumped on that and worked VERY hard on my audition because I knew they had high standards of quality and the competition was going to be very intense. This was also true for the actual recording process - I believe I did about four sets of retakes for the whole episode with multiple takes each time - which amounted to hours of recording that in the end, I was proud of. It’s honestly a little hurtful to see people just blatantly disregard the work that people like Emi, Bree and I put into a collaboration like this and giving it our best. I know there will always be the people who will complain that nothing’s ever close enough unless it’s the actual VAs from the show, but c’mon, it’s not like he asked his random friends from off the street to do it…obviously we are people who put a lot of time, dedication and effort into our craft and the least one could do is offer a constructive critique rather than “durr hurr we’ll just get other people to redub the voices cause they are teh sux0rz.”

I agree absolutely. There’s this idea of ‘legitimacy’, as though being paid to do a project makes it more worthy of consideration and praise than doing it for free. Don’t get me wrong: I respect and admire the people who work on MLP:FiM, and love their work and the effort they put into it. But they are just people. Tara Strong is definitely cool, but her ‘official’ status isn’t the result of some divine edict that decreed her to be Twilight Sparkle. She was hired for the job. She’s had to work very, very hard to get where she is. We have fan VAs who work very, very hard as well and do FANTASTIC work, but there are people out there who will insist that they are somehow less valid (or even less good), simply because they don’t have checks signed by Hasbro. But they are people, too. And when they pour their hearts into their work, they deserve the same respect and praise as someone who does it as a full-time job.

It’s not either/or. You can be a fan of the people who make fan material, and it won’t detract one iota from the people who make the show.

So, I haven’t commissioned anything in a while, but with the new season starting up, and my finances looking solid once again, I wanted to start paying artists to draw me incredibly silly pictures (it’s a win for both sides, in my book). The artist of this one, seeing that it was something of a topical piece, wanted to have it done before the season premier, but things happened, as they do, and I told them to take all the time they needed. Of course, I didn’t give them much time to work with in the first place, so it’s really my bad in the first place. Haha… ha… >.<

But it doesn’t matter, because Pinkie Pie can’t be constrained by petty concepts like ‘time’ or ‘reality’! This isn’t even a crossover: this is canon Pinkie Pie, after she builds her Party Star to bring laughter to the farthest reaches of the galaxy!

EDIT: Speaking of Star Wars, I like Celestia a lot, and don’t believe the Tyrantlestia stuff one bit, but… after seeing her bust out dark magic in front of her apprentice, I can’t help but compare her to Emperor Palpatine…
